The writers strike will be affecting our favorite shows in the near term unless the strike is settled sooner rather than later. The new shows this season will be affected more than older shows as Reaper has only a half dozen episodes under it’s belt. I believe they only originally made 8 episodes and ordered 3 more scripts. So it’s run will end soon.

Update on the strike is available at Variety.

Onto our review.

On Tuesday Reaper fell a bit more. It finished last for the night. It’s share of homes watching TV that night fell to 2% from 3% the week before. It’s unfortunate because this show is well written and different. The devil has some very funny lines. Let’s hope things improve soon.

On Wednesday Pushing Daisies was not shown because ABC had the Country Music Awards on all evening. NBC aired Phenomenon
and it’s ratings dipped a bit also. It’s share was 6% while last week it was 7%. It also finished in 10th place for the night while last week it was 7th. It was up against the CMA special so this could be just because of that event.

Again Supernatural finished last for it’s evening as it did last week. The number of people watching stayed about the same. That’s a good thing for sure but hopefully those numbers will rise soon. The show is so well done and very enjoyable to watch as the surround sound is one of the best on TV today.

Ghost Whisperer supplies the best news for the week as it’s strong ratings enabled CBS to win the night. Again it had a 6 share as it did last week but finished in 3rd by itself instead of being tied as it was last week. Looks like this show should earn another season if the ratings remain strong. Moonlight repeated it’s decent ratings from the week before. This is a good sign because being a new show, maintaining the same ratings level is a good sign. It shows that a loyal audience is maintained and if ratings were shrinking it would indicate that the show was losing steam.

So overall the ratings for our prime time paranormal shows are for the most part remaining stable. Time will tell if they perform well enough to warrant renewal for next season. Let’s hope so as all of these shows are pretty entertaining.
