A quick search on Google reveals a lot of sites that offer some sort of map with haunted locations on them. There is HauntedMap.com which looks like it’s kind of broken. Then there is HauntedHouses.com which seems to be working fine. It’s more of a classic web site with the map just used to show haunted places per state by loading a new page. There is HauntedHouseNation.com which seems pretty good as it’s based upon Google Maps. But there doesn’t appear to have driving directions in case you wanted to visit a site. Now Creepy LA has a nice Google map with driving directions but they appear to be just the Los Angeles area.

The last thing most of these maps have in common is that the web site that host them control what is on the map.

It seems to us here at Spectral Review that a really good haunted places map would:

  • Use a modern mapping system like Google Maps
  • Support driving directions so users could learn how to find the place
  • Enable detailed information for each Haunted Place
  • Have the community of users be able to add to the map

Some of these maps do support some of these features but none of them support them ALL.

So we here at Spectral Review have been slaving away at our little computer writing the code to create a Haunted Places Map that fulfills all of these requirements. We hope you enjoy using the map. It is really brand new and the number of haunted places currently is small. We will be adding places and we hope the readers of Spectral Review will help us by adding haunted places to the map themselves.

  1. I think this is absolutely brilliant, I’ve just added a couple of British locations. I know many of my friends on the internet will want to use this. I hope it stays a permanent fixture on google maps. Good work !

  2. Thanks so much Jules!

And thanks for adding the new British places. You did a really nice job of describing them!

The other places in Europe that I put on the map were just the places that the TV show “Ghost Hunters International” visited. So I hope some of your friends will take the time to add places like you did as we all will benefit!

    Thanks again.
