Background on Nanteos Mansion and Abbey of Lucedio
“Ghost Hunters International” visits Nanteos Mansion and the Abbey of Lucedio in their second episode of their first season.
The Nanteos Mansion was built in 1738 by William Powell, and it remained the Powell family home for over 200 years, until the 1950s. It’s located just outside Aberystwyth, on Wales’s west coast. It’s gone under several renovations over the years but the kitchen and first floor remain mostly unchanged.
One legend associated with the property is that it once housed the Holy Grail, the chalice that Jesus and his disciples are believed to have drunk from at the Last Supper.
Nanteos Mansion is also seems to be home to a number of ghosts. Elizabeth the wife of William Powell wanders the hallways looking for her lost jewels. A phantom horse and carriage that pulls up to the front entrance in the middle of the night. The ghost of Gruffydd Evan who played for the Powell family in the music room every Christmas for 69 years. His music can be heard in the woods around the house.
Nanteos Mansion is located on our Haunted Places Map.
The Abbey of Lucedio was built in 1123 in Northern Italy. Apparently in 1684 many young girls who lived in the area met the devil. After the devil seduced them he sent them to visit the monks at Lucedio’s Abbey. The girls managed to corrupt the abbey and convert the monks to Satanism. Things went downhill after that.
Abbey of Lucedio is also located on our Haunted Places Map.
