Chillingham Castle was featured on the first episode of “Ghost Hunters International”.

Built in the 12th century as a stronghold became a full-fledged castle by the 14th century. The 18th and 19th centuries brought refinements in the landscaping and gardens.

A number of ghosts inhabit this castle. There is “blue boy” who would cry out at midnight. The sound has been traced to a spot near where a passage was cut through a ten foot wall.

Another ghost is Lady Mary Berkeley. She searches for her husband who ran off with her sister. She lived in the castle by herself with only her baby girl as a companion. The sound of her dress passes by you in the turret stairs.

The castle can be found on our Haunted Places Map.
