Ghost Hunters International Drawing Viewers
The Sci-Fi Channel announced today that Ghost Hunters International debuted as the #1 reality series telecast in Sci-Fi history. Almost 3 million viewers watched the premiere episode on January 9th.
The Channel has generated year-to-year gains in key demographics with a 17% increase among Adults 1834, a 10% increase among Adults 18-49, and a 2% increase with Adults 25-54. Female viewers also flocked to Sci-Fi during the month of January, showing increases of 21% among Females 18-49 and 5% among Females 25-54.
They don’t say how the subsequent episodes did in the ratings. They may still have done well to contribute to the January increase overall. Most likely they have less viewers than the premiere since the promotion of the series is less. And people were curious just to see if Donna LaCroix and Brian Harnois made it to this series. We assume the ratings have leveled off by now.
It will be interesting to see the numbers on these last few weeks. Unfortunately, ratings for cable channel series are not published very often, unlike the major networks. And usually it’s just the “good ratings” news that gets out.
