Paranormal State “Haunted Ranch” Report Card
We here at Spectral Review are not paranormal investigators, demonologists, or drama critics. We don’t even play any of those on TV! But we do watch most paranormal shows and can tell the good ones from the bad.
Paranormal State episode report card.
“Haunted Ranch”
PRS travels to a ranch in Hunt, Texas where black shadows are being spotted and the animals are being harmed; a mysterious crop circles has the horses spooked; psychic Chip Coffey witnesses paranormal activity in the basement.

Paranormal State deals with Native American spirits. |
Client Credibility
The client is a couple by the name of Roger and Janet. They have had two horses that have died mysteriously. And they have had a water trough move about 15 feet. When full it is quite heavy.
They both have seen black masses in their home. Roger saw a mist once early one morning.
The couple seemed to be very credible.

Investigation
The team talks to the Veterinarian that treated one of the wounded horses. He could not explain how the horse could have sustained such an injury.
Chip Coffey is called in and makes a couple of hits on what is going on. Brings up Native American feelings and asks if any of the animals have been hurt. Chip thinks something is in the woods so they grab some lanterns and go check things out. The animals make some noises and are disturbed.
Doing research the team finds out to build their home, the clients took down many ceder trees. These trees were important to Native Americans as they were used for incense. The team believes that this may have angered some Native American spirits. They bring in a Native American elder by the name of Dennis, that appears to confirm their suspicions.

Evidence
They captured a nice movement of a chair. The chair was next to where Chip was sitting. Chip’s reaction looked genuine. Of course chair movement can be faked easily. A little fishing line and a tug and there you have it. We are not saying that this is what happened but we as an audience we must admit that we have to trust what the show gives us.

Conclusion
Another really good show. It was entertaining and again discusses a subject in the paranormal world that isn’t usually covered by other shows. We like it when they call in experts to help them with a case. On this episode it was interesting to hear what the Native American elder had to say about the goings on at the ranch.

Why do you have to trust what an edited TV show offers as “evidence?”
Just curious.

I probably could have written that better. My point is that it’s easy to fake stuff on TV and nothing should be taken as real “evidence”. It’s “for entertainment purposes” as they say. But it doesn’t mean it WAS faked.
Come on Resume, you have to be a bit more skeptical.
Just kidding, I know you are.

Would a disclaimer such as “For Entertainment Purposes Only” harsh your mellow?

It wouldn’t bother me, but the disclaimer shouldn’t be necessary as it’s common sense.

Common sense isn’t all that common. One of the precautions for my daughter’s blow dryer reads “Do not use while sleeping!”

Just now watching the re-run. I can’t speak to the other stuff, but I can say most of the horses look underweight, which could explain the one that just died for no apparently reason. For the other horse that died, he was probably rolling as horses are apt to do and impaled himself on something. There is so much crap in that ‘pasture,’ not to mention the posts and barbed wire, which any good horse owner knows is never a good idea. I wouldnt say the ’spirits’ are the cause of the horse deaths - I’d say its poor ownership practices.
