Well the paranormal community is mixing a couple of our favorite things, all for a great cause this Saturday August 16, 2008 at Germaine’s Country Kitchen in Burien Washington.

Ice cream and pets are great and psychic mediums are cool too. This is a benefit to raise money for the non-profit Angels for Animals.

Here are the details from the TheHighlineTimes.com:

Along with her passion for pets, Rule also has a passion for the paranormal, as shown in her books.

“I grew up in a haunted house on a Native American burial ground in Des Moines,” she said.

Rule remembers she and her family would often hear sobbing.

“It was the most heart wrenching sound,” Rule added. “It sounded as if it was coming from the next room, then I would move on to the next room; as I ran on, it just kept moving.”

Regarding Saturday’s fundraiser, Rule predicts, “I think some people [who come to the event] are going to be surprised if they’re skeptical.”

The event looks to be an interesting one. Even though this K-9 unit and this future ghost hunter have homes, there are many others that do not.

If you are in the area, check it out!

A Fright night planned at Samlesbury Hall with celebrity medium Ian Lawman is being organized for Friday, September 27, from 9pm to 4am. Of course this will take place in Preston in the UK.

TheCitizen has a nice article about the event and some of the claims of paranormal activity:

The hall is reputedly haunted by a ‘White Lady’, thought to be the ghost of Lady Dorothy Southworth who lived at the Hall during the seventeenth century.

Dorothy fell in love with a neighbour but, due to family conflict, the young lovers could only meet in secret.

On the night of their elopement, the young man went to collect Dorothy but her brother crept up on him and killed him and two of his accomplices.

Both families found out about the affair and Dorothy was sent to a convent abroad where she went insane and eventually died.

The wonderful Anthony Nolan Trust will benefit from the money raised from this event.

Lindsay Historical Society is organizing a benefit ghost hunt that will help raise funds for the organization. The ghost hunt will take place at the Moore-Lindsay House Historical Museum next Saturday June 21, 2008. The museum is located near Lindsay, Oklahoma.

“We have investigated the mansion quite a few times. What we found there was impressive. The evidence was unique to us,” she said.

“I can’t really say what it is because it’s part of the benefit.”

With 100 percent of the proceeds collected going directly to the Historical Society, the benefit on June 21 will start out with an explanation of what the paranormal investigative group does.

Then comes a discussion on paranormal theory, demonstrations on equipment used in investigations and even a chance for guests to do a little investigating on their own.

If you are interested in attending you can get more information by contacting Kristen Perkins, co-founder of the Insight investigative group.

MedEquip4Kids is a UK organization and is looking for ghost hunters to help raise money.

The Bolton News has an article about the event:

The Fright Night at Smithills Hall, said to be of the most haunted buildings in the North-west, will take place on Friday, September 19 and participants are asked to raise a minimum of £125 sponsorship.

They will be joined by the North-west Spirit Seekers who will take participants on a ghost and history tour of the infamous building to learn more about of its most famous past occupants. They include local curate George Marsh who was tried at the hall in 1554 for being a protestant before being sent to burn at the stake and left his footprint stamped in the flagstone at the bottom of a staircase.

Participants will also be given the chance to use ghost hunting and psychic equipment and will be joined by special guest medium Ian Lawman, often seen on Living TV’s Most Haunted and I’m Famous and Frightened.

Smithills Hall is one of the most haunted locations in Bolton. Matter of fact Most Haunted has visited the location in the past. The experienced investigators from North-west Spirit Seekers will be on hand to make sure the investigation goes smoothly.

It sounds like fun!

Not only was some interesting evidence collected by the Ghost Hunters visit to the Cashtown Inn, the owners of the Inn hosted a party for the premiere of the episode last night.

The Paladino’s who own the Cashtown Inn donated about $2000 to the Adams County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The Kitty Ghost Hunters applaud this action by the Paladino’s. I’m sure your local SPCA would love your support if you donated a little something.

The Evening Sun of Hanover, PA has a nice article about the event:

Jack Paladino said that was the first he heard of the picture frame moving, but a rocking chair next to the picture frame has been reported to move on its own as well.

Paladino and his wife appeared in the episode, with Paladino taking the investigators on a tour of the property and sitting down with the team for “the reveal,” during which TAPS shares what it found during the investigation. Although he knew what the team found, Paladino did not share any information about the show prior to Wednesday’s premiere.

“We had a good idea it was going to be positive, which was really hard to hold back,” Paladino said.

Maria Paladino said she was excited to have TAPS come to the inn but was unsure of the “aftermath” – partly because of what the team might find and also because of how busy the inn could get. But she said she was pleased with what the ghost hunters found.

“I was very excited … (but) not really surprised because we have so many reports,” she said. “Just excited that they were actually able to catch something while they were here.”

We suggest if you are in the area of Gettysburg to stay at the Cashtown Inn. We hope to make a visit ourselves soon. We imagine they will be pretty busy!

We just wanted to point out to our UK readers that they can help raise money to support 4SIGHT. This organization that is largely self-funded helps Blind and Partially Sighted People living in and visiting West Sussex.

4SIGHT organizes “Haunted House Sleepovers”. It’s not clear on that page when the next event will take place but there is a contact form you can use to find out.

Also be aware the Sussex Paranormal Research & Investigation Team (SPiRIT) takes part in these events so if you are new to ghost hunting there will be experienced people there to help you.

Have fun ghost hunting for a worthy cause!!

Derek Acorah of TV shows Most Haunted and Derek Acorah’s Ghost Towns is going to participate in two fundraisers in April organized by The Anthony Nolan Trust.

The Southern Reporter has the details:

On Thursday, April 24, Derek will be holding an audience with Border fans which, say organisers, promises to be a hugely entertaining display of his psychic ability.

And on Friday, only 50 places are available for a night at what was recently described by a team of paranormal investigators as one of the scariest places in Britain. The first half of the night will be spent in the grim surroundings of Mary Queen of Scots’ House which was occupied by the fateful Scottish monarch in 1566 and today houses her death mask.

For more information contact the trust on 01506 655361.

The Borders Paranormal Group will also be participating.

Is you go to either of these events we would love to hear what it was like. This is the forth fundraiser was have heard happening in the UK just in the last few months. It’s great to see paranormal groups and fans stepping up to use their interest in the paranormal to raise money for worthy causes.

It makes us wonder if American and Canadian groups and organizations do the same thing. We haven’t heard of any but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened. Let us know in the comments if you have heard of any that have happened or are to happen in the future.

Thanks.
