An eye on the paranormal world in today’s popular culture. Articles refer to news about paranormal groups, TV shows and appearances by the leading ghost hunters in the field.

We have to say that Nine News out of Colorado has a pretty in-depth article and interview with Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson of Ghost Hunters.

With the series restarting in a few days we expected some articles and are pleasantly surprised on how good this article is:

Hawes also recalled another case. “We were investigating a woman’s claims of apparitions in her house, and when we checked her bedroom, our EMF meter was jumping off the charts. We found her alarm clock was an old 1960’s model, and was causing crazy electro-magnetic fields around it. This woman slept with this clock right by her head for about ten hours a night. We spent $22.99 on a nice digital clock, and she never saw an apparition again.”

Our number one goal is to help people,” said Wilson. “People have asked us why we don’t charge for our investigations. It’s simple. If we charged for our services we would be charlatans in the eyes of the public. When you think about it, also, how can you charge someone for something that in the eyes of the scientific world doesn’t exist?”

Lot’s of other tidbits in the article too. For example Jason saying they had invested around $20,000 a year on equipment before the show materialized and Sci-Fi Channel took over that cost. That does explain why Jason would get so upset at Brian for losing things that first season. One has to fix a lot of plumbing problems to make $20,000.

We here at Spectral Review have to say we respect Jason and Grant a lot. They do appear to have stuck to their reasons for doing this research in the first place. In spite of the fame, we can see them continuing on after the show is long over.

Monsters & Critics has a new interview with Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson two of our favorite Ghost Hunters.

Why are we fascinated with the paranormal and ghosts? And why is it popular?

Jason Hawes: Well see I, you know, I’ve seen a bunch - some people, of course, get - have their own experience and they want to understand it. But what I’m seeing more and more of is people who just want to know that there’s something after this life, that when they pass on they’re going somewhere.

And I’ve just seen more and more of those people getting involved in this field.
Grant Wilson: Well, you know, we’ve been to the depths of the ocean. We’ve been to the dang moon. You know, what’s left?

The Earth is all - we know it, you know. And so I think the last frontier is really paranormal and everyone just wants a little bit of mystery in life because science has taken over and they’ve got answers for everything.

The NewsLeader.com has a very good article about three paranormal groups who work in the Augusta and Rockingham counties of Virginia.

Puffenbarger is a member of the Supernatural Investigators of Virginia. Founded in May 2007 by Tracey and Dan Burnett, the group concentrates on cemeteries and battlefields in their search for apparitions and audio phenomena.

Maybe it has something to do with the area’s rich Civil War history, but Augusta and Rockingham counties boast three paranormal research groups.

Seibel’s group, the Shenandoah Valley Paranormal Society, began in August 2005. Having been interested in the paranormal since he was a child, Seibel joined a group in Richmond before they folded in 2003.

In a little more than two years, Seibel and his members have investigated Braley’s Pond, McDowell Battlefield, Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery, Gettysburg and Old Town Harpers Ferry, among others.

The Waynesboro Paranormal Research Group, also founded in August 2005, does their fair share of scouting trips to places like the Buckhorn Inn and historic homes.

Tonight at 8 EST Crossroads Paranormal Radio welcomes Marla Brooks, an Author and Paranormal Investigator.

Marla has has lived in Hollywood all her life and has never lived in a house that wasn’t haunted and after having had several paranormal experiences of her own, it was great to finally have been given the opportunity of not only being able to write a series of books about ghosts and hauntings, but to also don her paranormal investigator hat and check out haunted locations as well. As for her ghost writing and interest in the paranormal, she has always known that there was more to this world than meets the eye and finds the notion of ghosts and other things that go bump in the night quite fascinating. Back in elementary school while all her friends were reading Nancy Drew and Dr. Seuss, she could always be found scouring the adult occult section of the library for books on ghosts and hauntings.

Ghosts of Hollywood: The Show Still Goes On

While most people may not openly admit it, most of us do believe in ghosts. There is probably not a person alive who hasn’t either experienced some sort of paranormal encounter or spoken to someone who has. That is why books, movies and television programs devoted to this phenomenon have always delivered enthusiastic audiences.

Much has been written about Hollywood ghosts, but what sets this book apart is that many of the true accounts of Hollywood hauntings have never been written about before and are told by the people who experience them on a daily basis. The book often takes readers off the much-beaten path to include new locations, first hand investigations and new information on Hollywood haunts from several of your favorite and most well-respected psychics including Most Haunted’s David Wells, Chris Fleming of Dead Famous fame and Psychic to the Stars, Kenny Kingston.
