One of the creepiest ghost tales we have heard here at Spectral Review is the witnessing of the “Lincoln Ghost Train”. The Lincoln funeral train made it’s way from Washington DC to Springfield, Illinois after the President was assassinated.

The story is that a “ghost train” is seen every year at the end of April during the anniversary of the original trip. The “ghost train” travels slowly, makes no noise, but witnesses tell of seeing a flag draped coffin surrounded by many mourners.

It’s personally creepy to your favorite Spectral Review editor because he commutes to the day job on an interstate that parallels the train tracks where Lincoln’s funeral train had traveled in 1865. To compound things the book Civil War Ghosts and Legends tells of a sighting near Albany, NY and quotes from Albany Evening Times which is the area in which your editor lives:

Middle Tennessee Ghost Chasers (MTGC) will be investigating The Octagon Hall Museum in Franklin, Kentucky next month.

TheLeafChronicle.com has an article telling us that the groups founder Tommy Golden has investigated the property once before:

Tommy Golden, the founder and president of MTGC, had a chance to investigate this place and has sparked this upcoming full investigation. According to Tommy, they heard a small child playing in the downstairs areas. They captured an EVP which says “Don’t touch my horse” and the funny thing is that they were moving a camera around on a rocking chair that is shaped like a horse.

Everyday Paranormal has published their webisode based upon their recent investigation of Myrtles Plantation. Myrtles Plantation is known as “One of America’s Most Haunted Homes.” The webisode from Everyday Paranormal definitely backs up that statement!

Because of limitations of YouTube (10 minutes max) and the amount of paranormal activity captured, the webisode is in three parts. In part one we are given some background information on the property and shown some of the rooms in the light of day. We are also given some of the claims of paranormal activity.

The second part of the webisode we see the setup of the investigation and see the team do their work. Some fantastic DVR footage that you will want to see!

The third part of the Myrtles Plantation webisode continues the investigation with more captured video and some of the best EVPs we have ever heard.

We just want to mention that you may have noticed that there were people in the video who were not from Everyday Paranormal. For this investigation, people could sign up and go with the team and experience the investigation.

How fantastic is that?

There is going to be another investigation at Myrtles Plantation in May 2008. There may be spots still open if you want to go. We here at Spectral Review have signed up and are looking forward to the experience. If you sign up, tell ‘em Spectral Review sent ya.

See you there!

The Kentucky Area Paranormal Society (KAPS) will be at the Waverly Hills Sanatorium, located in Louisville, Kentucky this Sunday March 30, 2008. Here is a promo video:

Featured Videos Waverly Hills 2008

You may be familiar with Waverly Hills as the Ghost Hunters have visited the site. The sanatorium which was built for tuberculosis patients, was the location for the Ghost Hunters Halloween special in 2007.

The really terrific idea is that Para-X Radio will be broadcasting live from Waverly Hills Sunday all night!!

Here is 1 recent public photo from Flickr.com

This is the only location I have shot so far that is in the process of being restored. Read all about it here. This view is of the rear of the building where the sun rooms were located.

Spooky Southcoast is a paranormal radio show that is on WBSM 1420 AM radio. WBSM is located in southeastern Massachusetts.

The show is leading an investigation at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast at 92 Second Street in Fall River, MA. The event will be Sunday night, April 6, 2008.

Details have not fully been determined but you can get some information on their blog.

Update: Here is a press release

Join “Spooky Southcoast” for a special “Investigators’ Night” at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast at 92 Second Street in Fall River, MA. The event will be Sunday night, April 6, 2008, and is hopefully the first of many such events.

While details are still coming together, SSC announced that a price of $75 per ticket will get investigators - as well as the general public interested in taking part in an investigation - into the very haunted house at 92 Second Street to take part in the investigation, as well as presentations given by soon-to-be-announced special guests. Keep checking back here as all the news will be announced in the coming days…

In addition, anyone wishing to rent out a room at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast for the night will get a special rate of $150 for the room. They generally go for $175 and $250, so guests could save as much as $100 on the price.

So for just $300, a couple can take part in all the activities of the night before retiring to their room to (hopefully) get some sleep - if the spirits will let you. And groups can split the room amongst themselves to make it even cheaper.

“We’re doing this because we want other investigators as well as the general public to have the same opportunity that we’ve had to experience the hauntings at the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast,” said Tim Weisberg, host of “Spooky Southcoast.” “We still need to ensure that owner Lee-ann Wilber, who is generously lowering the costs associated with renting out the house, can cover her expenses for the evening. So hopefully, we’ve come up with an affordable opportunity for investigators to check out Lizzie’s without having to rent out the entire house.”

“This is going to be different than the usual events they have there,” Weisberg said. “If you’d rather investigate instead of listening to the lectures and guest speakers, we welcome that. And we’ll also have special guest investigators there to help you as well. Plus, the small size of the house and the fact that we’ll have 20 people investigating at once will force groups and individuals to work together, and unity in the field of the paranormal is something we feel very strongly about.”

Due to the size of the house, the investigation is limited to only 20 people. So act now.

More details will be announced soon, as well as an opportunity to purchase tickets online. Stay tuned to Spooky Southcoast.com’s “Latest News” page for PayPal/check/money order information, but anyone wishing to reserve their tickets and room should contact Tim Weisberg at tim@spookysouthcoast.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , timweisberg@hotmail.comThis e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or at the myspace.com/spookysouthcoast.

The Great Falls Tribune Online has an article telling us that the local Cascade County Jail was investigated by the Montana Association of Paranormal Studies (M.A.P.S.).

“They asked to come into the jail and set up cameras,” said Commissioner Lance Olson Sunday.

During a pair of visits in January and February, the group brought some of its equipment into the 1909 jail, and then brought in a more extensive video surveillance system, recalled Brad Clark, the county’s building maintenance supervisor.

After the first visit, Clark said, “they indicated they thought they heard something.”

There’s no word yet if, or how many, ghosts or strange occurrences were found in the building’s dingy interior.

M.A.P.S. appears to be a fairly new group of investigators. They have a download page where you can listen to their EVPs they have captured. We are looking forward to seeing or hearing any evidence gathered at the Cascade County Jail.

Everyday Paranormal has posted some of the awesome evidence captured (scroll down the page a bit) from their investigation of Myrtles Plantation in February. Please notice that also on the evidence page you can sign up to go on their next investigation of Myrtles Plantation in May.

We here at Spectral Review are going on that investigation with them. We hope to see you there as well! Hopefully Myrtles Plantation will be as active that night in May as it was in February!

In case you are not familiar with Everyday Paranormal, they have been creating some terrific video of their recent investigations. They have investigated the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio Texas. More recently they investigated a home in Fredericksburg Texas.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a video from them in the coming weeks that included this terrific evidence they gathered from Myrtles Plantation.

Everyday Paranormal has posted another video of an investigation of a home in Fredericksburg Texas. Several very impressive EVPs and a some very interesting photos.

Another outstanding video from Everyday Paranormal. This group is doing some really intriguing research. We here at Spectral Review have watched a lot of posted video and we definitely have not seen anything better than what we have seen from Everyday Paranormal.

If you haven’t seen their investigation of the Freeman Coliseum you should check it out.

The founder of Everyday Paranormal is Brad Klinge who has participated in our “People in Paranormal Research” series.
