The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that Moonlight is dead.

CBS declined to pickup the series because it was failing to hold its “Ghost Whisperer” lead-in and declined in the ratings post-strike. Last Friday’s episode garnered a 2.0 rating among adults 18 to 49.

Looks like not enough eyeballs were added after the strike. We thought it still had a chance since it did win it’s time slot these last few weeks of new episodes. Oh well, we were wrong. :(

Reaper is officially back for season two on the CW.

Update: Looks like they are going to make 13 episodes which is not a commitment to a full season. The show will have to do well the first 4 weeks or so, or expect it to be canceled.

Hopefully the writers come up with some storylines to build more of an audience, yet not ruin what they have now. It will be a while before we know what they decide to do, but we heard the CW wanted some changes to the show. Hopefully those changes are positive!

Tim Surette over at TV.com has said that E! Online has a source saying Reaper will be renewed for a second season on the CW.

“If you had asked me a week ago, I would have said no,” an “insider” tells E! about Reaper’s chances. “But there have been a few changes, and now it’s looking like it’ll probably get the green light.”

Apparently this source is the brother of a cousin to the mother of Sock’s best friend who doesn’t believe in demons. :)

OK, just kidding on that but it would be terrific news for us Reaper fans if the rumor was true and the show was returning for a second season.

Maybe the Bret Harrison Sock Campaign worked!

As we mentioned a few days ago, Ghost Whisperer will be syndicated on the ION network. At the time we wondered if it would be on the ION satellite feed and today we have our answer.

NO!

The Sci Fi Channel has acquired the rights to Ghost Whisperer for cable/satellite syndication. It also will be in High Definition (HD). Yeah!

They also acquired some other shows too. Here is the press release:

Beginning some time in 2009, ION Television has an agreement for the broadcast syndication rights to the television series Ghost Whisperer with CBS Television Distribution.

This is great news for your favorite Spectral Review editor as he has not seen season one.

Unfortunately the local ION affiliate doesn’t come in very well over the antenna. Hopefully the satellite version of ION shows these replays of Ghost Whisperer but that is not mentioned in the press release:

As we have said before, the best way for Moonlight fans to ensure it’s return for season two was to get more eyeballs watching.

As this Hollywood Reporter article states:

  • The show won it’s time slot (Yeah) but there was little competition (boo)
  • Moonlight kept a high percentage of Ghost Whisperer viewers as it has done in the past (Yeah)
  • It’s ratings were down 9% from the pre-strike numbers (boo) but that is less than most other shows (Yeah)

So it’s a mixed bag. Some good news but all is not rosy. Again if you want the show to have season two, get friends to tune in on Friday nights at 9PM Eastern.

Save Blood Ties

Kevin over at SaveBloodTies.org suggests that we take a minute this weekend to send a nice message to the television network that previously aired Blood Ties to remind them that we think bringing Blood Ties back is a terrific idea.

He has the proper email to use based upon your location, US, Canada or the UK to use. It’s a great idea and just takes a few minutes.

Joel Silver, executive producer of the CBS vampire drama Moonlight will be meeting with CBS executives next week. From Scifiwire:

“Well, we’re going to go in, as a matter of fact, next week for a pitch meeting to tell them what we’re going to do next year,” Silver said. “And then that, coupled with the ratings, we’ll know what happens.” Moonlight returns with the first of four new episodes on April 25 in its regular timeslot, Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

We have mentioned the Operation: Renew Moonlight before, and as we said then we say now:

If you want Moonlight renewed for a season two, get more eyeballs watching the new episodes that are going to air in April and May. If each person convinced one other person to watch, it would be back for sure.

Now based upon this quote from Silver, the ratings for the new episode Friday April 25th are critical. Who are you going to get to tune in?

The Ghost Hunters are currently filming at Fort Delaware. Fort Delaware is just down the river from Fort Mifflin where Billy Howe was executed.

DelawareOnline.com has an article about the filming of the episode:

“Fort Delaware is so incredible, it’s such a piece of history – 2,400 people died in it, so the potential for paranormal activity is so enormous,” Hawes said during a conference call. “It’s on an island so it’s isolated, without the contamination of a city.”

Hawes said during the investigation of Fort Mifflin “planes were practically landing on our heads” causing problems with the equipment used in the investigation.
“There’s no obstacle at Fort Delaware. The only thing at Fort Delaware, you make a wrong turn and its a 40-50 foot fall to your death,” Hawes said.

The team of paranormal volunteers will be at the fort on and off during the week taping the show, which will air sometime this summer.

The Delaware Ghost Hunters have been to Fort Delaware. They have an EVP on their EVP Page. They also have a pictures on their picture page. You have to scroll a bit on those pages to listen to the EVP and see the photos.

Save Blood Ties

SaveBloodTies.org has posted an audio review of Blood Ties. The review is from The Signal which is podcast about Firefly and Serenity. The Signal has a feature called “Scifi Review” in their podcast. This particular segment is about one of our favorite vampire shows.

As the folks at SaveBloodTies.org say on their site, the audio review is a great introduction to Blood Ties. We started watching the show in the middle of the season so there was a lot we learned about the show by listening to the audio review. Please check it out.

The show was a Canadian production and aired on the Lifetime network. They did not air the last two episodes, only made them available online. SaveBloodTies.org has a posting about a someone from Lifetime stating that “The show has NOT been canceled but is still in limbo.”

There has been talk that FX may pick up the show.

Lets hope that the show can comeback. The audio review reminded us on how well the show was written and thought out. And kudos to the folks at SaveBloodTies.org for taking the time, effort and expense to put the web site together so the campaign has a central place where all fans can easily stay in the loop and get involved.
