Great news, Ghost Lab returns for a second season!

One of the most interesting ghost hunting tools is the thermal camera. Ghost Lab has captured an image that to us is the most interesting image captured to date on any paranormal TV show.

What sets this image apart from anything the Ghost Hunter franchises have ever caught is the difference in temperature. All of the images caught by the plumbers have been “hot” images. These hot images are easily explained as coming from something living and breathing. Most likely an animal or a crew member from Pilgrim Entertainment. Even the most interesting image the Ghost Hunters found was of the “soldier” – which really was a reflection of Grant from a metal locker.

The Ghost Lab thermal image is a “cold” image. We have heard for years of “cold spots”, how spirits use heat as energy to manifest themselves. To us here at Spectral Review it always made sense to us that finding a thermal cold image is much more interesting and much more likely to be something paranormal.

The temperature difference is around 55 degrees. Very significant find. Nice job Ghost Lab!!

So what about this image is bothersome? The Ghost Lab team interviewed someone from the camera manufacturer to get their feedback which they could not explain. Steve Harris a team member suggested that it was a “water bottle”. Earlier in the show they returned to a previous thermal anomaly to debunk it but didn’t on this one if we remember correctly. They did take thermal pictures of water bottles to clearly show what they captured was very different than these tests.

The problem to us here at Spectral Review is the thermal camera itself. It’s very difficult to discern any sort of reference point in the thermal video to get any sort of sense of what the room looks like, or what objects are in the room. Also what sort of “zoom” factor is the camera set – so you lose any sort of perspective on size.

We wish someone would implement a “mount” where two cameras could be installed. One camera would be a thermal and the other an IR camera. Of course one would have to manually “sync” up the two cameras as to zoom and recording. This way one could produce video that was time synced and viewing the same objects but capturing a thermal image along with a “normal” image that could give one some perspective on what the heck is being captured on video.

So theres a free idea for all you paranormal investigators out there who have some extra cash lying around to buy the equipment and to implement a mount to do the job. Get to work.

Tonya Hacker from Ghost Divas has recently posted about their recent interview with Donna LaCroix who formally was a cast member on Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International.

I highly recommend you listen to this interview if you have an interest in the truth.

One of the things we have witnessed here is something Donna LaCroix refers to as a “TAPS cult”. There is a group of people that just have gone overboard and have become the Ghost Hunter Minions and defend them and attack others in the paranormal TV world. Six weeks ago Ghost Lab premiered and even here on the humble Spectral Review web site, people were posting negative comments even before the show aired!

And if you have visited Spectral Review the last year you will know we think the plumbers are actually magicians.

It looks like Ghost Lab had some solid ratings the first two weeks of being on the air. It does have a veteran show Dirty Jobs as a lead-in which certainly helped the show. The second week saw a big jump in ratings from the premiere.

It looks like plenty of folks are liking the show like we do here at Spectral Review.

One of the things we really like is the opening text on the show:

“The following program documents the case studies of Everyday Paranormal. All evidence has been gathered by the Klinge Brothers and their team of investigators. Nothing has been manipulated or manufactured.”

DIRTY JOBS Continues Strong Second Week of Premiere Episodes

On Tuesday, October 13, 2009, premiere episodes of DIRTY JOBS and GHOST LAB helped rank Discovery Channel as the #3 primetime cable network in primetime for Men 25-54 and 18-49. The network also ranked #4 for Persons 25-54 (858K) and 18-49 (872K), and Men 18-34 (308K).

In only its second week, GHOST LAB bested its household numbers from its series premiere last week, going from .79 HH to 1.11 HH, a 41% increase. GHOST LAB also saw a big bump in M18-34 with a whooping 87% increase from last week, +47% for M18-49 and 28% higher P25-54.

DIRTY JOBS continued strong with 1.38 HH and 0.91 in the key P25-54 demo. DIRTY JOBS was the #3 primetime cable telecast for M25-54 delivery (660K) and ranked at #5 for M18-49 (691K). In the 9PM time slot DIRTY JOBS was the #2 cable telecast for M25-54 and M18-49, only coming in behind VH-1’s Hip Hop Honors.

GHOST LAB follows brothers Brad and Barry Klinge as they take their mobile lab on the road to uncover the truth behind Americas most haunted sites. From a music hall where Elvis is believed to have never left the building to Civil War battlefields where the fallen are still heard, Brad and Barry employ the latest technology to research the supernatural and separate fact from fiction.

Well it’s just two weeks away for the first episode of Ghost Lab. Here is a summary of the first show:

We all know who the two brothers are – Brad and Barry Klinge from Everyday Paranormal. And people who have been following them know they have been to the Myrtles Plantation. So we can’t wait to see what additional findings they have found there and what they have found at the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium.

I think this new series is going to be terrific. Brad and Barry are going to take a fresh look at ghost hunting with many new techniques that have not been tried before. The plumbers have fallen into such a routine that every one of their shows is very cookie cutter.

Ironically Ghost Lab will probably improve Ghost Hunters because it is going to give them a kick in the ass.

Finally we have some credible paranormal themed TV to watch!!

The plumbers can claim they have “the best evidence so far this season coming up”, but so what when it’s just faked? Or why get excited just because Meatloaf is going on one of their investigations? The plumbers show has gotten so desperate they had to go the “demon” route last week.

Truly sad.

Brad and Barry Klinge of Everyday Paranormal will premiere their new show Ghost Lab this Fall on The Discovery Channel.

The Klinge brothers aren’t satisfied with merely going into a home with the hopes of catching a voice on tape. They want to test real scientific theories. With the help of the latest technology, a decked-out travelling “ghost lab” and one of the world’s foremost specialists in science measurements, they test cutting-edge theories. It seems forever since the last original paranormal TV show has aired. Actually it’s just been a month or so but we are definitely looking forward to the return of Ghost Adventures.

Yes that is right, this Friday Zak, Nick and Aaron head to Ione, California for an investigation in a condemned building known as Preston Castle.

The castle has a dark history as a former reformatory that housed angry juvenile offenders and abandoned children. It is the sight of an unsolved murder, countless instances of corporal punishment, and the scene of many tragic deaths due to ravaging epidemics.

The Travel Channel kindly let us know that the next four weeks (actually starting last night), they will be airing new episodes of Most Haunted. The show will air on Friday Nights at 10PM Eastern.

Also they let us know that Ghost Adventures is now filming episodes for their second season. Something tells us that Zak will try some provoking in season two.

Well great news has just been announced. The Soulseekers are currently filming a TV pilot. The press release states it could be televised internationally which is great news for us here in the states.

Congratulations to Gil, SarahJane and the rest of their team. Here is their press release:

The Soulseekers, one of England’s most outstanding teams of paranormal investigators, are now in production of an exciting new project.

The team is filming a pilot for a television series. The programme will emphasize English history in their quest for proof of the supernatural. Each episode will feature a famous historical figure and the Soulseekers will seperate fact from fiction during their investigations. The conclusion of each show will be left for the audience to decide whether any paranormal activity occurred.

They have joined forces with one of England’s top production teams for the series to be televised internationally. Together, with the Soulseekers’ investigation experience and the advanced production team’s skills, this series will be of the utmost content and quality, introducing a new genre to paranormal programming.

The pilot will focus on Dick Turpin, legendary highwayman, who terrorized innocent people from London to York. Almost everything we know of Dick Turpin is fiction. The Soulseekers will present the facts as they search for his ghost along his bloody trail. They will visit the ancient Epping Forest, where he robbed and killed some of his victims, along with the infamous cave where he hid from his captors. The team also visits York where Turpin was eventually apprehended, imprisoned and hung. Numerous reports of his ghost have been sighted at these locations.

The concept of the show sounds great. We must admit we don’t know a lot about the legends of England so each show should be enlightening as well as entertaining. Looking forward to seeing the series.

This week the Ghost Adventures crew will be conducting their paranormal investigation at the Northern New Jersey Asylum. As always, the 3-man team will be scoping out the area, interviewing locals and then doing a 12-hour lock down to gather evidence. The show airs Friday at 9 pm ET.
