Fort Mifflin was where William H Howe was tried twice for desertion and murder. Billy Howe was hung at the fort several months after the conclusion of his second trial.

For many months Billy was kept at Fort Mifflin as a prisoner. The following photos show the casement in which he spent this time.


These photos were sent to us by Dr Robert Alotta who wrote the definitive book about William H Howe entitled Stop The Evil. These photos were taken by Kevin Coyle. Kevin was one of the first members of the Old Fort Mifflin Guard. He’s been devoted to the Fort for almost 35 years.
