An eye on the paranormal world in today’s popular culture. Articles refer to news about paranormal groups, TV shows and appearances by the leading ghost hunters in the field.

Welcome

Our site tries to bring you all things "ghosts". Today's popular culture has seen an explosion in the subject of ghosts and the paranormal. Nearly everyday one could find some documentary, reality or entertainment television show which main theme is ghosts. Throw in the coverage the mass media gives to psychics, vampires and demons and this subject is nearly unavoidable.

Don’t you want the evidence that is collected that may document paranormal activity to be rigorously examined? Isn’t the point of all the investment in equipment, the work of investigating, and the hours spent analyzing results to produce something that stands scrutiny?

The book Orbs or Dust? A Practical Guide to False-Positive Evidence by Kenneth Biddle should be be a tool of every paranormal investigator. Mr Biddle has written this book which can help anyone determine what paranormal evidence (photo, video, and EVP) has a natural explanation and what might really be authentic.

The book is 82 pages long, has 81 photographs and is self-published by Mr Biddle copyright 2007.

Great news from Everyday Paranormal. They will be releasing a DVD this summer that will be produced by XI Media Productions that will have investigations from haunted spots in Texas.

We are really looking forward to the release of the DVD. The Everyday Paranormal webisodes are terrific and the best paranormal video you can find on the web. However because of bandwidth constraints of places like YouTube the resolution and length of the videos is reduced. The DVD will not have these limitations so it certainly will be a terrific DVD to have in one’s collection.

Please see a sample of the great work of Everyday Paranormal.

Brad told us that it should be in stores and on Amazon.com. We here at Spectral Review will link to Amazon as soon as it’s available.

Brad updates all of this in this short video:

A theory in the paranormal world is that physical objects can themselves be haunted. Or more precisely these objects have spirits “attached” to them. It’s a plausible idea because objects here in the physical world can be important to people in life and it’s logical they can remain important to them in the spirit world.

The other night the History Channel repeated a show that featured the Castroville Hearse. The Castroville Hearse is a horse drawn carriage that is now at the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio Texas. The hearse has been reported to be haunted.

Everyday Paranormal has had the opportunity to investigate the Institute of Texan Cultures, including the Castroville Hearse and we have been told by Brad Klinge the groups founder, that they have captured some terrific evidence at the Institute of Texan Cultures since the museum has many many artifacts that appear to be haunted.

This evidence from the Institute of Texan Cultures will be shown in a future video. However, Everyday Paranormal has posted their evidence associated with the Castroville Hearse.

The O.P. Fannin School for the Deaf was recently jointly investigated by Kentucky Area Paranormal Society (KAPS) and Peach State Paranormal.

Check out the EVPs and photograph captured by KAPS.

Both teams have a radio show on Para-X. There is KAPS Paranormal Radio and Paranormal Divide with Kurt Smith who is with Peach State Paranormal.

Please check the KAPS Paranormal Radio archives for some really interesting shows.

We here at Spectral Review as you might imagine enjoy the “reality” based ghost and paranormal shows. These shows include Most Haunted, Ghost Hunters, Paranormal State and Ghost Hunters International. These shows in their own way each try to find answers to questions about the paranormal. One could argue about their methods or motivations but they do try to show how they search for ghosts.

These shows are just representations of real people who do paranormal research. Nearly 100% of these people do this paranormal research for free. That tells us that these researchers are not only dedicated to this research but passionate about it also.

We want to know more about these people. Why do they do this research? How did they start? What expertise do they have?

Our next article in the “People in Paranormal Research” series is from Niki of Carroll Area Paranormal Team (CAPT). Niki is a recent addition to CAPT.

We hope you like this series. If you have any suggestions or want to participate in our series, use our contact form. And as always you can leave your comment here.

Onto the questions and Niki’s interesting answers.

We here at Spectral Review are not paranormal investigators, demonologists, or drama critics. We don’t even play any of those on TV! But we do watch most paranormal shows and can tell the good ones from the bad.

Ghost Hunters episode report card.

We have to apologize as we here at Spectral Review haven’t posted much news recently. It’s really for two reasons. The first reason is that it’s actually been kind of slow news-wise with not too much happening.

Here is the second reason.

Beginning some time in 2009, ION Television has an agreement for the broadcast syndication rights to the television series Ghost Whisperer with CBS Television Distribution.

This is great news for your favorite Spectral Review editor as he has not seen season one.

Unfortunately the local ION affiliate doesn’t come in very well over the antenna. Hopefully the satellite version of ION shows these replays of Ghost Whisperer but that is not mentioned in the press release:

As we have said before, the best way for Moonlight fans to ensure it’s return for season two was to get more eyeballs watching.

As this Hollywood Reporter article states:

  • The show won it’s time slot (Yeah) but there was little competition (boo)
  • Moonlight kept a high percentage of Ghost Whisperer viewers as it has done in the past (Yeah)
  • It’s ratings were down 9% from the pre-strike numbers (boo) but that is less than most other shows (Yeah)

So it’s a mixed bag. Some good news but all is not rosy. Again if you want the show to have season two, get friends to tune in on Friday nights at 9PM Eastern.
