South Jersey Ghost Research (SJGR) has posted some very intriguing photos recently taken at the Burlington County Prison Museum during a recent investigation.

The Burlington County Prison Museum has been investigated by the Ghost Hunters, the Long Island Paranormal Investigators have taken a stab at the place, and the Delaware Ghosts Hunters promised an update to their investigation by the end of April but didn’t get around to it.

However the SJGR photos may have trumped them all!

A Fright night planned at Samlesbury Hall with celebrity medium Ian Lawman is being organized for Friday, September 27, from 9pm to 4am. Of course this will take place in Preston in the UK.

TheCitizen has a nice article about the event and some of the claims of paranormal activity:

The hall is reputedly haunted by a ‘White Lady’, thought to be the ghost of Lady Dorothy Southworth who lived at the Hall during the seventeenth century.

Dorothy fell in love with a neighbour but, due to family conflict, the young lovers could only meet in secret.

On the night of their elopement, the young man went to collect Dorothy but her brother crept up on him and killed him and two of his accomplices.

Both families found out about the affair and Dorothy was sent to a convent abroad where she went insane and eventually died.

The wonderful Anthony Nolan Trust will benefit from the money raised from this event.

The Bristol Town Hall located in Bristol, NY near Rochester is being investigated by the New York Paranormal Investigators Group. The town historian is recommending that the building is investigated to disprove anything paranormal is going on. Which is quite the opposite of how these things go.

MPNNow.com has the story about the investigation:

“There are three sheriffs that won’t come in the building alone,” Fox said. “They’ve either seen things or heard things or something.”

Deputy Paul Hagen, who has spent a lot of time working the west side of Ontario County during his 16 years on the job, confirmed that several of his colleagues have heard strange noises in the building.

“One deputy was in there at night using the bathroom,” he said. “I don’t know what he heard, but he went running out of there quick. It kind of spooked him.”

They sure make these officiers out to be sissies don’t they? But then again I guess a loaded gun doesn’t work too well in the paranormal field. :)

Another note: The New York Paranormal Investigators Group which was founded by Jay Powell and Jen Klimeczko do not appear to have a web presence.

Well not really. But is does explain why your editor has not posted much the last few days here at Spectral Review!

The Ghost was a tree stump. I didn’t see the stump before I tripped over it and I haven’t ever seen a Ghost so through some very convoluted logic I can come to that assumption. :)

Of course that logic is wrong. Jack the 18 week old puppy (future K9 unit member) saw a rabbit in the back yard and chased it. Apparently he likes chasing rabbits as much as ghosts. Well anyway he went into a thicket of trees which border our property and separate it from a highway, so I went in to find him.

Then that ghostly tree stump jumped out and tripped me fracturing the fibula at the ankle. Ouch! But I can report I didn’t even say any naughty words. :)

Hopefully we will be able to get back to our regular schedule of bringing you the most interesting paranormal news!

Southern Paranormal Investigations (SPI) has recently posted some EVPs from a recent investigation of a home in the Houston Texas area.

You can listen to their EVPs and we suggest using headphones as many of them are faint.

Here is a press release from SPI:

Southern Paranormal Investigations Captures Evidence of The Afterlife

San Leon, Texas
Last month, Southern Paranormal Investigations (SPI), founded by Jennifer Parker and Jennifer Hanson, conducted a private home investigation in San Leon, Texas with three other team members, Randy Hancock, Mike Quinn and Jerri Quinn. The home owners were reporting sightings of non-earthbound entities or ghosts. SPI investigated the home and caught several Electronic Voice Phenomena or EVP’s. EVP’s are caught on a digital voice recorder and is not audible to the human ear, but upon playback can be easily heard. Digital voice recorders record at a different frequency and thus are able to capture the sounds and words made by ghosts. In the beginning of the recording you will hear several different recordings of sounds and phrases. At the end of the recording, the group was doing a house clearing. They were attempting to remove the entities from the house. SPI believes that they have captured the voices of angels and the entity about to cross over. The clip can be found titled “San Leon Investigation” or at www.myspace.com/spi_texas.

Southern Paranormal Investigations is located in the Houston area and is not-for-profit, meaning they do not charge for their investigations. SPI has been together for over a year as a team but combined have over 40 years experience. If you would like a home investigation or have questions, please contact them at either website above or their email, spi_texas@hotmail.com.

What is real time spirit communication?

It’s when a human uses an electronic device to communicate in a conversation with a spirit.

So how is it different than an EVP?

  • The spirit voice must be a response to a question or fit into the current conversation. An EVP not necessarily has to be so as it could be from a residual haunting.
  • Because it’s a conversation between human and spirit, the audio is heard live. An EVP by definition is not heard live but only found when playing back a recording.

When someone uses a “Frank’s Box” they are participating in a session in the hopes of communicating with a spirit. And if you are like us here at Spectral Review, it’s hard not to have at least heard of the thing called a “Frank’s Box.” It has not been used on Ghost Hunters but has been used on Paranormal State.

The notion of live communication with spirits is controversial to say the least.

So we thought we would get you a rundown on just what is happening in the “Real Time Spirit Communication” community. Yes there is a community of researchers dedicated to studying the use of these boxes. We will include links to example audio files that people have captured while using these electronic devices.

P.O.R.T.A.L. Paranormal Talk Radio will be interviewing Derek Acorah of Most Haunted fame on Sunday June 29, 2008. It will air at 7PM Eastern.

We haven’t seen too much of Derek the last few years. Other than Most Haunted repeats as his own show Ghost Towns wasn’t on here in the states for too long. We have to admit we like David Wells better.

Here is a press release from them:
