NewsOK has written an article about the reported haunting of the Governor’s Mansion in Oklahoma. Former Governor William H. “Alfalfa Bill” Murray apparently still hangs out in the mansion from where he once governed in the 1930s.
Keating said he shrugged off the warning that Murray’s spirit haunted the third step of the main staircase until his wife slipped and fell on the cursed step. He said the incident wasn’t isolated.
“I know it seems odd, but during the next few years we lived there, several other people slipped on that same step,” he said.
Keating also said his son, Chip, saw Murray’s ghost while watching TV with friends in the mansion’s basement.
“They laughed,” Keating said. “But they were only around 14 at the time, and you could tell that what they saw had them scared.”

0 Comment » The Soulseekers have released a new DVD of their investigation of Pevensey Courthouse. Pevensey Courthouse is located in Pevensey in the UK and is currently a museum. Built in the time of Henry the VIII, it still has two prison cells downstairs that housed many accused prisoners. The courtroom is presented as it looked in centuries past.

The investigations from the Soulseekers are enjoyable to watch. There are several reasons and one is when interviewing people representing the location, they really just have a nice conversation. The people get an opportunity to explain the paranormal activity and history of the building. Another reason a Soulseeker investigation on video is enjoyable to watch is because the sounds from the investigation are the sounds from the investigation! You realize how over-produced American TV paranormal shows have become with all the sound effects.
The video is about 30 minutes in length. And they do capture interesting activity on camera that you will want to see. You can order the DVD right now by sending them an email. It should soon be available via Amazon, we will let you know when it is available.
Here is a quick news item from the Sci Fi newswire explaining that Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson from the TV show Ghost Hunters are planning on getting into the haunted Bed & Breakfast business:
Hawes and Grant–who founded the Atlantic Paranormal Society, or TAPS–said they are in the process of acquiring the Spalding Inn in Whitefield, New Hampshire.
“[It] is a haunted inn, and we’re just getting ready to finalize everything on it,” Hawes said, adding, “We’re going to open it back up. It was a very well-known inn; it just needs some work, and we’re going to have to fix it up and open it back up and go from there.”
We wish them luck. I’m sure they will be quite busy with people wanting to stay at the inn. Places like the Myrtles Plantation seem to have built a nice business.

The 0.6 release has the following added functionality:
The Audio Sifter program allows the researcher to connect their real RS hack box to their computer via an audio cable and then process the live sound via the new sound filtering capability added to this release. You can read the Audio Sifter Guide for more information.
You may need to download a new live CD (right click, save link as…) as some filtering support libraries were missing on the original live CD. And you will need the new installer (right click, save link as…) program. You can see our original guide on installing as it has not changed from the original other than the additional Audio Sifter program.
You should be able to install over the previous release or you can install to a new folder. Any saved settings can be reused with the new release.
I was also able to clean up some code and fix some bugs. The source code (tar gzip) (right click, save link as…) or as a zip file.
One last thing to note. You could run the installer on Windows. I mean it will install BRAINS but the RS Hack Simulator will not find any radio devices as code is still to be written to support them on Windows and the Mac. In the next release we plan on Windows support for the Audio Sifter program. And perhaps also on the Mac.
To enable these two ports the project GStreamer needs to be built on Windows. I nearly was able to do it for this release but the GStreamer project is not quite there yet for what the Audio Sifter needs. Much is there but missing two or three pieces.

So how often do ghost hunters experience something honestly paranormal? Opinions vary, but somewhere between 1 in 5 investigations to 1 in 20 investigations. In other words you’ll spend somewhere between five or twenty sleepless nights wandering around in spider-ridden old basements and sneezing in dusty, hot attics before you actually capture any real evidence. Now, what is considered verifiable evidence depends on the investigation group and how rigorous they are with what they collect.

The Georgia Ghost Hunters (GGH) have posted their report on a private residence. Based upon their findings they have also investigated a second time.
Leon and I headed up to the Green Room at 10:30pm and went and sat on the floor against the wall. We took base readings and started our EVP session. As I was taking temperature readings, I found a cold spot that was 72F but later determined that it was a false positive due to the air turning on. Leon and I heard what sounded like footsteps in the hallway. I had also noticed major battery drainage on my handheld camcorder. It had a full charge before heading upstairs but noticed once I entered the Green Room I had less than half charge, not only did I have battery drainage, but two of my voice recorders were turned off.

The folks at Buckeye State Paranormal & Haunting Investigators (BSPHI) have posted another terrific report of their recent investigation at the Logan County Museum and Orr Mansion in Bellefontaine, Ohio.
From the report is this personal experience:
There had been reports of a stuff cat being moved in one of the upstairs bed rooms. Two of the investigators decided to relocate the cat to see if they could get it to move. They placed the cat on top of a pillow on the bed next to the headboard and left the area. The next group entered the room about 10 minutes later. After asking them about the cat they said “When we left that room, the cat was sitting right below the pillow. On it’s stomach. I was the last person to leave that room before meeting up with everyone else to use the mini-box.” When the first two investigators went back upstairs to tear down the equipment they found the cat about 10 inches away from the pillow laying on its side. We had a camera pointing down the hallway with the only access to the room and there had been no on in that room since the second group left. How the cat got moved not just once, but twice, we don’t know.
