Product Description Aisling Grey is a courier enjoying a free, work-related trip to Paris when she learns she's a Guardian. That's a keeper of the Gates of Hell, for those who don't know. She finds this out from Drake Vireo, who's scrumptiously sexy-at least in his human form. Now Drake has stolen the package Aisling was sent to deliver, and she must track him down, get the package, and try to resist the passion boiling inside her.

Good Read! January 8, 2009 I loved this book. I am a big fan of the Southern Vampire mystery series by Charlaine Harris, and was looking for something to read while waiting for the next installment in May. I have to say that the Aisling Grey books did just that for me. I am about to start Holy Smokes, and all of them thus far have been excellent. I love the demon Jim, his wit makes me belly laugh. Aisling can be a bit annoying at times, but I still love her. Let's not even talk about the smoldering hot Drake Viero! These books are a fantastic read for the supernatural lover!
A little bit airheaded but good December 24, 2008 Reading a book where the main character is out of the loop throughout the entire thing is strange. I felt just about as clueless as the main character was. I don't know what a guardian is, or how people know the main character is one, or why she is fated to be a dragons mate. After reading the book I still don't know those things, but I do want to read more. Usually the introductory book in a series lays out the world and explains everything to you. Instead, this one leaves you in the dark. You find out things when and if the main character finds them out. I continued reading hoping someone would explain to Aisling more about being a guardian, but nope, didn't happen. The devil dog was a bit annoying, and I found myself skipping over sections of his dialogue, but the plot was different than most books I've read, and it was funny in places. I will definitely keep reading the series, but only if they fill me in on some more about guardians and demons and things.
Love this series - Witty and Fun December 6, 2008 Having read a few paranormal series that I loved (like the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harries), I was drawn to the audio version because it was read by Barabara Rosenblum. I am so glad I found this one. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this one (and they just get better). What a fun, witty, charming and sexy series.
Aisling Gray is a courier who stumbles into "the other world" while delivering a package in Paris that happens to be at the scene of a murder. The "other world" consists of demons, dragons (in human form), wickens and others.
She leans that she is a "Guardian" and didn't know it and finds herself muddling her way through the other world with much humor that will leave you laughing out loud. She pursues the other world as she tries to reclaim the package she was delivering at the murder scene. The package was stolen by a sexy dragon named Drake, and she learns that she is meant to be his "mate", which litterally adds "sizzle" this story. She also accidentally summons up her demon sidekick, a loveable dog named Jim who provides tons of added humor to this story. With other great characters, like a taxi driver named Rene and others, it's a fun fun story.
I definetly would recommend this series. If you have a chance to listen to the audio version, it's FABULOUS.
Pure candy, not much substance but it sure is fun December 3, 2008 This is the first book in the Aisling Grey, Guardian series by Katie MacAlister. This is the first book I have read by MacAlister. The book ended up being exactly what I though it would be. It is a cute, funny and sexy little book that was a quick read.
Aisling is on a job as a courier delivering a golden dragon statue to someone in Paris. Only thing is when she shows up to make the delivery the recipient is deceased. To make matters more complicated someone else is on the scene with Aisling, his name is Drake and he is convinced that Aisling is a Guardian.
This book is fun little romp. It is more of a romance than most of the paranormals that I read, but it was a quirky little book that I found myself enjoying as I read it. There is some sex in the book but I thought it was tastefully done and not too drawn out. Aisling isn't the normal type of heroine I am drawn to; she is a self admittedly dense and a little bit flighty. Drake is an overpowering male, with about as much sensitivity as a slab of concrete. Still I found these books to be amusing. I also liked the way the magical community was set up in Paris. I find the structure of the dragon culture and the inclusion of dragons as an immortal race to be interesting. The position of Guardian is also interesting and I hope in the next book we find out more about exactly what a Guardian does.
If I had to compare this book to other series I have read I would say that it has a bit more substance and a less flighty heroine than the Queen Betsy series by Davidson but it is more flighty and less substantial than the Sookie Stackhouse series by Harris. Hopefully that will give you an idea of what type of book this is.
I think this series is a bit of a jealous pleasure, it is pure candy, but it hooked me and I enjoyed it all the same. I am excited to read the next book!
PLEASE slay him! November 30, 2008 Okay... I enjoyed most of the book. It is campy silly dumb chick-lit type stuff for the most part. And I'm usually not too picky. I don't read this stuff looking for depth or to be impressed. I look for light fun reading with some romance thrown in. Mostly, this fills that.
However, her "mate" makes me hate the book. The back of the book says he's an annoying jerk, and they're right! He keeps doing things that annoy me and she keeps swooning despite claiming to hate him. Sorry, I don't enjoy reading about abusive relationships.
I skipped to her Silver Dragon series and liked it much better.
