Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again.

All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don't even know what that means anymore. It all started on the day that I saw my first ghost—and the ghost saw me.

Now there are ghosts everywhere and they won't leave me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a "special home" for troubled teens. Yet the home isn't what it seems. Don't tell anyone, but I think there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on? It's up to me to figure out the dangerous secrets behind Lyle House . . . before its skeletons come back to haunt me.

5 out of 5 stars Fan-Frigging-Tastic!!!   December 23, 2008
This book was great, I was blown away after reading the first two chapters!
Forget vampires, this book is not only different but is creepy in a good way, it almost draws you inside the story.
I commend Kelly Armstrong for making a new series about necromancy, we haven't had a good book about people talking to dead people sice Meg Cabot's "Mediator", and even though the two books are way different, I would reccomend anyone who's read that series to read this book.
Even though I'm only 17 years old, I still really appreaciate authors who are thinking of new and different things, and I'm not constantly being bombarded by books that are about someones love life. I personally like the slightly more darker books, and this book did not fail me. Thanks soooo much for writing it!!!!!

4 out of 5 stars YA Magical Mystery   December 15, 2008
Dark Powers Book 1
An excellent first outing for Kelley Armstrong into YA fiction. I adore her other books and was excited to see her transition to this different style of writing. The writing is simpler but still excellent and should appeal to the teenage audience.
I cannot wait for the sequel and can only beg for KA to write faster!

5 out of 5 stars Loved It! Hard to put down   December 14, 2008
I have never read any of Kelley Armstrong's other novels, so her writing and world was completely new to me! I loved both! I loved the way she slowly revealed things to you so it kept your interest and i loved the characters. At first i did not like the main character that much, b/c i felt she was too immature, but after a couple of chapters i loved her. I got the book from the library, and finished it in one day. It was just so easy to do, since i never lost interest. I highly recommend this book, although you might want to wait to read it until after the sequal comes out because the ending is a major cliff hanger!

3 out of 5 stars Great Cover...Alright story   December 14, 2008
When I saw this book I had a good feeling about it. The cover was cool, and when I read the description I bought it without hesitation.
I haven't read any other of her books, unlike some of the other reviewers but I have to say after reading The Summoning I hope she writes better in those.
The plot was great up until the middle, when it started to go on hyper-speed in certain parts and then super slow on others. Then the ending came and I was confused at the abrupt cliffhanger.
One thing I will give this book is that its well-done up to the middle. Then...well I can't say I wasted $17 but I definetly wished I had waited to get it from the library.

4 out of 5 stars An Absolute must read   December 9, 2008
This book is probably one of the most fascinating books that I have ever read. I could not put it down. This book has a little bit of everything. Fantasy, action, romance, all combined. I cannot wait to read the second one.
