Book Description Leslie Rule's When the Ghost Screams: True Stories of Victims Who Haunt explores the world of wandering spirits by traveling across time and distance to hot-spots for hauntings and the paranormal. She then weaves the true, related stories of untimely death and strange phenomena together from the testimony of eyewitnesses and her own exhaustive research. When the Ghost Screams suggests that violence common to locations where murder or accidental death took place may cause a victim's spirit to linger there. With considerable attention to detail, Leslie Rule retells the stories of the restless dead, narrating the events surrounding their passing and telling of the rumored ghosts seen afterward. Chapters include: * The Ice Files. These old, unsolved cases of homicide have long gone cold, but they may be the key to the question of why certain places have been haunted for generations. * Witch Hunt. This chapter exhumes the old stories of witch trials in Boston and Salem, placing them historically parrallel to a wave of hauntings reported in those locations. * Victims of War. An old naval shipyard, Gettysberg and other sites related to war are explored as places where ghosts from past conflicts continue to linger in this world. Possessing a thorough, investigative feel and a strong sense for paranormal mystery, When the Ghost Screams empathetically gives a human face to the dead and attempts to bring them some much deserved peace by telling their stories. As Leslie Rule says in her introduction, "They are clamoring for attention now. In hotels and cafes and hospitals and schools and within private residences, they are trying to make us notice." Pick up a copy and listen to what they have to say.

Fantastic book of ghost encounters! April 28, 2008 This is a book I am sure I will read again and again over time. A look into many ghostly hauntings, and a few possible answers. To me, the most entertaining ghost stories are the ones that I believe are likely to be true. For me, I have seen a ghost once - the ghost of my grandmother after she passed away in our childhood home many years ago. The feeling I got was that she was watching me play - and did not want to be seen - just watching. All I saw was her clearly was her foot turn the corner into the living room - when I went to the next room - it was empty.
It is fascinating as you read of ghost stories - how some are terrifying, some are simply the ghost seeming to go through the regular routine they remember so well.
This book is a must-read as far as I am concerned.
True stories told March 10, 2008 One thing I look for in a writer, is that when I read their books I like to hear them speak as they are writing, the voice of the character. With When a Ghost screams,Leslie Rule did a fine job of this. As if she was the character in the story. Being that I read the book before turning in , it was mildly suspenseful, although if I wanted a hair raising ghost story this was not it, and I don't feel Leslie was trying to create something spooky.
I would love to see Leslie venture out to some people who have lived in haunted homes, write about the experiences they have had ....... ( I throw a Hint Hint in here ) in hopes she would reconsider one day , writng my story. She is a beautiful writer a talent in her own skin.. young at heart, with age and wisdom so will her books mature into the master pieces she creates. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read your book.

Good book, worth the look February 16, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Although I regret that I do not believe in ghosts, the main draw for me were the stories leading up to the hauntings. A good read, though. In fact, some of the stories, one in particular, about a campus hazing, I can't get out of my head. Ann Rule writes the forward.
great book August 14, 2007 loved it , learned some things too . there was some stories in my neck of the woods . i trust her to tell the truth , she reserches her stories !easy to read , could not put it down
Another good book from the Rule family July 30, 2007 I have enjoyed Ann Rule's books for years and added her daughter to my list of "must reads" some time ago. While this book may not be quite as good as her first two, it certainly didn't disappoint me. What I especially like about Leslie's writing is that she, like her mother, actually researches her stories.
