5 out of 5 stars Linda Godfrey scores another perfect Fortean hit!   February 28, 2008

Linda Godfrey's books never fail to entertain. Her latest literary effort, 'Strange Wisconsin', is certainly no exception. Packed from cover to cover with delightfully curious and unusual information, 'Strange Wisconsin' serves up the most thorough and comprehensive examination of weirdness ever compiled on the Badger State. Ancient puzzles, roadside wonders, local folklore, bizarre natives, haunted houses, inns and taverns, UFO's - can all be found inside this book - and much more. It also offers the reader a veritable menagerie of curious monsters to contemplate; Pig-men and Man-Bats, Lizard -Men and werewolves. Not to mention Bigfoot. Godfrey, the First Lady of Forteana, relies on a stunning array of visual aides to help tell the stories in this one. Hundreds of beautiful color photographs accompany the text, as well as dozens of first-class, lavish illustrations - many by the author herself - which make this book a rousing feast for the eyes as well as the imagination. 'Strange Wisconsin' was simply a joy to read and a must have addition to all Fortean libraries. I highly recommend this book for paranormal fans in every state. 5 stars! 5 out of 5 stars A 'must' for all Wisconsin school and community library collections.   December 1, 2007

Wisconsin is popularly known as the Badger State. It also has a checkered history of eccentrics, paranormal events, oddities, and the macabre. That's just what Linda S. Godfrey (writer, illustrator, and paranormal investigator) has collected, illustrated, and documented in the pages of "Strange Wisconsin: More Badger State Weirdness". This 200 page compendium is a showcase of bizarre stories ranging from pig men, to trolls, to pancakes from space, to the Mormon King of Voree! Profusely illustrated throughout, the text is organized geographically and alphabetically from Abbotsford to the Wisconsin Dells. Offering the reader a unique and phenomenal perspective showcasing all manner of oddities, "Strange Wisconsin" is thoroughly entertaining, occasionally iconoclastic, and highly recommended as a 'must' for all Wisconsin school and community library collections.
