Product Description
Readers captivated by Twilight and New Moon will eagerly devour the paperback edition Eclipse, the third book in Stephenie Meyer's riveting vampire love saga. As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob --- knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

3 out of 5 stars Ahhhhh! Jacob!   December 2, 2008
I could not STAND Jacob in this book. Really could not. I agree with the poster who said:

"reading 'Eclipse' (specifically towards the end) was like having a bucket of cold water thrown on me. I was just like, "HUH?!?". 'Eclipse', in my opinion, skews and betrays the true and pure love that Edward and Bella have, and the millions of fans who fell in love with those 2 wonderful, refreshing characters in 'Twilight'."

Exactly how I felt. I read this books for the unbreakable love between Bella and Edward which Stephenie Meyer clearly portrayed in Twilight. With each installment, that love seems to get muddies and trampled more and more. Toward the end, I was feeling better about it and really looked forward to the next book.

5 out of 5 stars THRILLING!   December 2, 2008
I COULD NOT PUT THE BOOK DOWN! A GREAT EDITION TO THE TWILIGHT SAGA! I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT BOOK!

4 out of 5 stars A pleasing addition to the series.........   December 2, 2008
Even though the target audience is obviously young girls, I thoroughly enjoyed Twilight, Eclipse stays true to book 1 while standing on its own. If you are a fan of the Twilight series it is a must read and will not disappoint.

4 out of 5 stars The drama picks up a bit over a werewolf vampire love triangle   December 1, 2008
The novel keys up the romantic drama as werewolf Jacob and vampire Edward both fight over the same girl. There's a stark contrast between the smooth maturity of the much older vampires, and the young, rash and impetuous teenage werewolves but the object of their affection is the same.

Bella winds up torn, wanting to be able to be just friends with Jake who obviously wants more, and desiring Edward the ultimate object of her heart's desire. She winds up hurting both men over and over again, much to her dismay as she is unwilling to cut either out of her life.

Someone, something, is looking for Bella, and everyone's lives are in grave danger yet again.

I don't know how this girl can do it. She manages to have to run for her life on a regular basis and still keeps up all the drama of a torn love life.

I must say however, Bella's spunk had me laughing my head off with her reaction to a 'good natured' romantic assault by Jacob.

The ending of this book is OVERLY Indulgent (not that I mind) playing to exactly what I wanted to see. So it's not something you want to miss if you're already a fan of the series.

Highschool is rarely a thought any longer, and Bella does graduate during the book, so by this point there's a bit more maturity to the whole story. Again this book as the rest was a quick read, though thick, it's hard to put down, and it only took me about a day to finish the book.

Here's an excerpt

"But you are human, Bella. And as such as I might wish otherwise, so is he... There are holes in your life that I can't fill. I undestand that."

4 out of 5 stars Action-filled and entertaining- slight spoilers   December 1, 2008
Pretty much everything is established when this book begins. We know exactly who and what the characters are, what they mean to each other, etc. You would think it might be a bit repetetive, but for the most part, it's not.

You know Bella loves Edward and wouldn't even dream of anyone else, but it was nice to read of the Jacob/Edward rivalry. I do get a sense that they love her both, dearly, in their own way. And I did feel bad for Jacob throughout the book, knowing, without a doubt, that Bella was always going to choose Edward. I don't want to say she is 'blinded by love' or anything of the sort, but even if Edward bodily harmed her for whatever reason, she would still probably choose him over anyone in the world.

There is a bit more action in this book as well. It is balanced quite nicely with some humour and romance as well as some much needed drama. Though this book, and its predecessors are geared more towards teenagers, at 25, I thoroughly enjoyed them as well, perhaps because I love the vampire genre and it was a nice little retreat.

The book(s) are a quick read, nothing compared to reading the brilliant Anne Rice of course.
If you want your vampires realistic, stylish and in character- read Anne Rice- there is no one that can do vampires like she can. But if you want to read a fun, quick engaging novel, then the Twilight series are perfect for that. Eclipse is probably my second favorite in the series after New Moon, and even the writing has improved with each new book. I really think it will appeal to many readers, not just the tweens.
