Product Description
Bianca wants to escape. She's been uprooted from her small hometown and enrolled at Evernight Academy, an eerie Gothic boarding school where the students are somehow too perfect: smart, sleek, and almost predatory. Bianca knows she doesn't fit in. Then she meets Lucas. He's not the "Evernight type" either, and he likes it that way. Lucas ignores the rules, stands up to the snobs, and warns Bianca to be careful—even when it comes to caring about him. "I couldn't stand it if they took it out on you," he tells Bianca, "and eventually they would." But the connection between Bianca and Lucas can't be denied. Bianca will risk anything to be with Lucas, but dark secrets are fated to tear them apart . . . and to make Bianca question everything she's ever believed.

A Great New Vampire Series November 26, 2008 Bianca's parents have taken her away from her small town to move her to Evernight Academy. Bianca can't believe her world is crumbling like this. I mean she cannot even begin to imagine what it will be like to have to make new friends, especially making friends with the snooty students at Evernight. In a failed attempt to run away Bianca meets Lucas. Lucas isn't stuck up like all the other Evernight students and he and Bianca immediately forge a friendship. While all the perfect, smart, and too good to be true students at Evernight keep getting better, Bianca finds herself getting more and more lost as the days go by. But as her relationship with Lucas strengthens, she knows that she will be able to make it through with him at her side. As things get tougher and tougher and secrets get unveiled, Bianca realizes that she will do anything for Lucas, but will it hurt her in the end?
OMG!! This is seriously one of the best books I have ever read!! I LOVED it. I was sucked in from the beginning and literally couldn't put the book down. I mean I fell asleep before I stopped reading, it was that good! I really enjoyed Bianca's character. I felt like I was able to connect with her a lot, especially because she felt so torn up about leaving the town she had known her whole life. I definitely know how it feels to leave a bunch of great friends and go somewhere where you know no one. Now the absolute greatest thing about this book is the amazing plot twist. The story was moving along just fine and then BANG the whole story changes into something even more spectacular. While there were a few hints as to what was coming, I really never expected it. You may be wondering why I'm not telling you anything about this and really it's simple, I think it would definitely put a damper on the book. I definitely recommend that you all go no RUN to the nearest bookstore and snatch up your copy before they are all gone - you will not be disappointed. As I'm sure you can imagine I am desperately anticipating the release of the next book in the series, Stargazer, which comes out at the end of the year. This book has seriously opened my eyes to a whole new area of YA books that I am so excited to dive into!
Evernight November 25, 2008 It's a great book that has the perfect combination of romance, magic, suspense, and everything a good book should have. It's great and the characters get to you so easily you find yourself being one of the students there at evernight.
Fun and engaging November 3, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Evernight is a fun vampire/ coming of age story with an interesting and completely unexpected twist. It is also, as I discovered towards the end, a new, vampire rift on a truly classic tale.
Claudia Gray's novel does an excellent job of drawing in the reader, from page one it grabs your attention and it holds it throughout. Combining action, dramatic tension, the angst of teenagerhooh and vampires, she creates a truly intriguing tale. With the addition of several plot twists she keeps the reader intellectually involved. I don't want to give anything away but about halfway through the book I was sorely tempted to go back and reread the beginning.
My only complaint is that some of the details she uses may make the book anachronistic 20 or possibly even 10 years from now but they add fun reference points and a little humor when read in the context of today's society.
All in all this was a truly enjoyable read. (I apologize that teenagerhood is not a real word)\
Thirsty for more! November 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What drew me in was the mysterious boarding school and the promise of romance, I wasn't disappointed. And the pretty cover didn't hurt either.
Evernight is a very good debut and I throughly enjoyed it. I felt that I could relate with Bianca, the feeling of not fitting in and all the rest of those pesky teenage feelings that come with growing up. When you first open up the book, you see Bianca trying to run away from Evernight Academy and going back home. And then BAM! You're introduced to a new (and very important) character. Though it involves vampires, which are usually a very dark topic, Claudia Gray has included humor as well as romance a hint of betrayal into it.
Though, there were some parts that people under 13 should not read. It gets a little hot... if you know what I'm saying. ;) And there's a bit of language and drinking too. But, it wasn't too bad.
Also, I was fortunate to meet Claudia Gray while she was on the Pitch Black book Tour with authors Ellen Schreiber (Vampire Kisses series) and Nancy A. Collins (VAMPS) and she is so nice. That was off topic- sorry!
Did I like Evernight enough to read the sequel? Heck yeah! I enjoyed reading it and I absolutely can't wait to read Stargazer when it comes out! I give the book an A-. The last page satifies you for only a little bit and then you thirsty, not for blood, but for the next book!
Fair vampire book, BAD ending October 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is definitely for mature teens (13-14 and up, depending on the child) because there is some language, sexuality, and some references to drinking.
The book revolves around a girl who is a born vampire who doesn't fit in with the "in crowd". During her first day of going to her new school she meets a guy who she likes and happens to like here back, thus a blossoming relationship begins.
The book is fairly mysterious up to the October Ball where all is revealed, including what the school is for and why she is going there.
All in all this is a great book two thirds of the way through until the end which falls WAY flat.
Pros: Good vampire book. Good mystery and believable romance. Contemporary.
Cons: Poor ending to the book (if there is no sequel). The language that is in the book could be done without (I find it a lazy in terms of writing). Poor explanation of charter backgrounds, could be better.
