Interesting and easy to read October 1, 2008

I really enjoyed reading this book. Maryann explains things in a simple way that made it easy to read. I have come away with new things to think about and am glad for that. The book was lent to me by a friend but now I plan to buy my own copy.

I got mary anns other book (as alive, so dead) first, and I thought that was a good book, but this book (when ghost speak) is like whoa! I have learn a lot from this book. when one can feel spirits and see them in my minds eye, and even to the point of seeing them with my two eyes, (kinda rare) like the time where a little spirit girl of about 8 yrs old came up to me as I was knocking on the door of a 100 yr old home and she said to me in my minds eye, who are you? this is my house, as the owner open the door, she went right in and started to play in the front room than went upstairs, and I never saw her again, but now I'll know what to say next time I see and hear one tobias

This was a very good book. I read it in one day. I was hoping for something a little bit different, however. Something along the lines of HOW she sees the spirits, or how someone else could if they wished. Overall, this was a very interesting read, though.

This book is easy to read and well written. Mary Ann Winkowski's sincerity is evident. I ended up feeling that I was listening to a good friend tell me her life over coffee while we share some coffee cake.
If you're looking for a different slant on ghosts or information that isn't readily available elsewhere, this book is enjoyable.
I find it hard to accept that Mary Ann can see and talk with so many ghosts, "make the White Light," and convince them to cross over. Maybe that's my limitation, not hers. I am opened minded in that respect. I'm not one for superstitions and charms so the last chapters on removing evil spells or whatever didn't do anything for me.
What I learned for myself is that I am not interested in having a talent like Mary Ann's. I'll continue to watch Ghost Whisperer because it's entertaining, too, but where I want to make my connections is with spiritual rhealm. Earthbound spirits won't help me with my personal growth, but it's nice to hear what someone else has to say about them. This book has been enough for me in that respect.
The book is a good read - something that you might take to the beach with you or read a few chapters every night before you fall asleep. Don't worry. There is nothing scary in the book. You'll sleep just fine.
I'll Give Benefit Of The Doubt, But Not A Solid Belief August 16, 2008

I am by no means a diehard (pardon the pun) skeptic. I am an avid reader of anything re: LAD, NDE, ect. And though I take everything I read with a grain of salt, THIS particular book has me straddling the fence, caught between wanting to believe she is credible and wanting to roll my eyes and burst into laughter. In both book form and a few YouTube videos I've watched of her, Mary Ann comes across as completely theathrical and over the top. First of all, as someone else mentioned, the spiritual photos, most particularly that of the statue look p.h.o.n.y. It looks as if it is what it is...a STATUE. And she wants us to believe that she has caught on film what NO reputable ghost hunter to my knowledge has ever managed to achieve? A clearly defined photo that leaves no room for doubt? Okkkk. She details conversations with earthbound ghosts as if she is talking to an average, flesh and blood person. Considering a spirt is nothing but energy with no form; no features, are we really expected to believe that they 'wiggle their eyebrows suggestively'? Far too over the top for me to suspend disbelief. And why is it that nearly every medium out there claims to 'work with police' to help solve cases, yet not one of them has any evidence, including from said law enforcement to back up those claims? I hate seeming so negative and skeptical, when the fact is, I am just like millions of others. I WANT to believe. However, as interesting and borderline unique as this book was from others I've read, it still reads like fantasy fiction. I am a huge Ghost Whisperer fan, but this belongs in a television studio, not reality. As with everything else, take it with a grain of salt. It's a fantastically entertaining read, but not quite convincing.
