Product Description Is your pet really dead? Paranormal investigator Joshua Warren thought his dachshund was, but for weeks after her death he still heard her shrill, desperate whining haunting his home. Using an array of high-tech equipment, he searched for her presence. What he found led him on an exploration of ghostly animals throughout history. That exploration is here, in Pet Ghosts. Ancient and medieval texts from all cultures are filled with references to spectral creatures, from witch's familiars like ominous cats and owls, to giant hellhounds and werewolves. Some beasts, such as fire-breathing dragons, Bigfoot, and Mothman, may even be spirits of mysterious extinct animals. Today, reports of "phantimals" are as abundant as ever. In Pet Ghosts, Warren recounts many real-life experiences: a man haunted by the cackling calls of his dead African Gray, a "Christmas dinner hog" pursuing the farmer that killed him, a snake that slithers between this world and the next. Many animals can sense information beyond human ability. Dogs and cats can hear more, birds can see more, and some fish even have a sixth sense for magnetism. What makes the relationship with your pet so special? Perhaps that's what often keeps them around long after death. Also included in Pet Ghosts: - Interviews with animal experts, such as cryptozoologist Loren Coleman. - Simple tools and techniques for you to find and record your pet's spirit. - Theories on how "phantimals" manifest. - Tips on how to contact your deceased pet. From known creatures to unknown, ancient to modern, anecdote to scientific theory, in text and pictures, Pet Ghosts is a comprehensive look at how animal spirits relate to humans, for better or for worse, and how you can document them on your own.

Pet Ghosts August 4, 2008 This book was a disapointment. I guess I was looking for a book with stories of pet ghosts. This got into theory of ghosts. I didn't enjoy this book.
What? May 4, 2008 The author of this book spends more time promoting himself and trying to make himself look smarter than he obviously is. I was expecting an educational but heartwarming book of lost loved pets but found myself dredging thru the first chapter, praying for something.I found this to be a hard read. Very self serving for the author and nothing else.
Okay Book February 18, 2008 This talked more about how to hunt ghosts than actual animal encounters. I was expecting more stories about actual animal encounters. Talked about the different types of ghosts and big foot, ghosts in history and around the world. I was looking more for pet encounters when I bought this book. There are a few in here but not as many as I would have liked/thought there would be. Don't recommend if you are looking for pet stories, comfort, etc. Recommended more for ghost hunting techniques, explanations of ghost terms, etc. Author is a ghost hunter (paranormal researcher).

Mysteries Magazine review October 28, 2007 Our beloved pets are cherished members of the family. But when the pets we love so much in life pass away, do their spirits remain close to us in the afterlife? Phantom animals have been witnessed for centuries, all over the world. What are the origins of these spectral creatures? World renowned paranormal investigator and author Joshua P. Warren explores these topics in Pet Ghosts.
The book delves into the various realms of phantom encounters, such as the mysterious black dogs that have been witnessed by generations of individuals in different areas of the world. The book also touches on the subject of cryptids, such as Bigfoot and the Mothman, and provides information on our ghostly domestic pets, as well.
The core of the book is dedicated to personal experiences with phantom animals or "phantimals," as Warren calls them. Perhaps the most intriguing tale is about an African Grey parrot that, after death, provided his owner with some important information about his wife that changed the man's life and quite possibly saved him from years of turmoil. There are other compelling stories as well, such as the psychic horse and the pig that sought revenge over Christmas dinner, for which he was the main course.
In addition to serving as a well-researched document on spectral animals, the book also teaches valuable tools and techniques to use in one's own paranormal investigations.
To anyone interested in researching the paranormal, Pet Ghosts is a haunting, thought-provoking journey of possibilities, which will have you indulging in ghostly wonder long after you put the book down. Mysteries Magazine
