5 out of 5 stars A little history with your ghosts?   August 21, 2005

Having read many, many books on ghosts and hauntings, I've decided I prefer books that dwell mainly on why hauntings occur rather than books that try to scare the reader to death. In this book, Mr. Asfar presents a somewhat analytical approach to hauntings. He starts from an historical perspective, such as describing the military events of a battle or a fight between two parties, then he moves on to the possible causes of why the spirits of those long-dead may feel the need to maintain contact with the living (i.e., a feeling of not completing their task, intense trauma at the end of their lives, lost love, etc.). During the whole story, he maintains a very straight-forward, calm and, at times, amusing approach to this subject which is quite refreshing.
