Great product! December 12, 2008 I recieved the item in good time and it was exactly what I needed. I like the fact that it has it's own batteries so you can place it out in the woods away from you and use it with your night vision enabled camcorder.
Works with Sony Night Shot... November 25, 2008 For a IR array in the $25 to $40 range (depending when its on sale or not). It works well for shooting video in complete darkness with Sony Night Shot capable camcorder or any IR light sensitive camera. It does a very good job up to 5ft or so and barely lights up to 10ft in the bright part of the beam but I was impressed with its brightness in the shorter range. For distance, one will need a stronger and larger IR light array.
The batteries last about 1 hour each use and takes about 2 hours to recharge. The batteries cannot be removed and it will be difficult to remove them if ever needed to replace the rechargeable batteries. It's been working for about 25 full 1 hour runs without a hitch, so I have nothing to complain about so far with the battery.
It comes packaged with a straight bracket. The bracket attaches to the tripod mount on the camera or camcorder and has one accessory shoe.
For a light in the $25 - $30 range, I am satisfied with its compact size, well built housing and it's rechargeable batteries. Some camcorders cannot shoot in complete darkness even with an IR light array, so check that your model does before purchasing.
Poor quality November 7, 2008 It says that it works from 10-75 feet. Wrong! It only works for up to 6 feet. So if you are filming in a a jail cell, this will work, other than that, don't waste your money.
Night Vision Light September 20, 2008 Good "light", works great in a dark indoor environment, however more units would be needed for outdoor filming. I may buy more in the future. Contrary to other complaints, if you first charge according to instructions, and charge right before use, the unit has lasted me for a full hour.
IR Lights September 19, 2008 I was very pleased that this product had arrived quickly and able to use it as soon as it was needed.
