Video is of Horrible Quality March 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really like this show and find it fascinating, so I bought the download. The Video Quality is Horrible. It is so bad that you can't even see the people's faces, because they are so yellowed out and blurry. Save you money and try to catch the repeats.
more then just investigating ghosts March 3, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this show its alot better then gh. gh only investigate hauntings. Paranormal State finds ways to bring closure to the families affected by hountings. and I specially love the fact that they deal with demons. its diffrent then just gohsts because demonds are more dangers.

I HAVE JUST STARTED WATCHING PARANORMAL STATE AND IT IS A GREAT SHOW. IT'S NOTHING COMPARE TO GH, BUT IS VERY CLOSE. I LOVE THE FACT THAT ALL THE INVESTIGATORS ARE COLLEGE STUDENTS. I LIKE THE WAY THE APPROACH THE HISTORY OF THE PLACE THEY ARE INVESTIGATING. MY ONLY PROBLEM IS THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO RUN INTO SOME KIND OF DEMON TYPE SPIRIT IN ALMOST ALL OF THEIR CASES. IT'S STILL A GREAT SHOW TO WATCH.

Paranormal State is actually a pretty worthwhile show if you're into ghosts and reality-style t.v. investigations into hauntings. Ryan is the main investigator and "host" for lack of a better word. He assembles a group of fellow Penn State students and they investigate some interesting locations, usually private homes. They really do find some things that are hard to explain away, and I have to say, Ryan seems extremely interested in actually helping the people affected by the paranormal happenings in their homes, and all episodes include a brief follow-up at the end, which is greatly appreciated. If you're a fan of Ghost Hunters, you may recognize some of the outside helpers that are called in occasionally, such as demonologist Keith Johnson, and Lorraine Warren, who was mentioned by Jason Hawes in an episode as being a famous demonologist and investigator. It seems that the world of paranormal investigations is a small one. The only drawbacks I can think of are that Ryan is more than a little dramatic in his voice-overs, and sometimes the interviews of clients seem a bit unprofessional, mostly due to the fact that the people doing the interviews are around 20 years old and seem to have no concept yet of how to speak clearly and maintain eye contact. Ryan and Katrina seem to be the only ones that can really do this effectively. Overall, really good show.
