5 out of 5 stars Ghost Hunters International   August 3, 2008
Ghost Hunters International is not one of those shows that try and make it intresting by everyone screaming and running around claming they see things. GHI maybe a spinoff of Ghost Hunters but they have come into their own. Investighating the paranormal is hard enough but traveling the globe and dealing with different cultures make things even harder. GHI go and do what many of us would love to (myself included) thankfuly we can come along for the ride. With GHI and GH the world is taken care of. Thank you. Keep up the great work.

3 out of 5 stars GHOST HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL   March 1, 2008
I HAVE WATCHED GHOST HUNTERS INTERNATIONAL THINKING THEY WOULD BE LIKE THE ORIGINAL GHOST HUNTERS. THE SHOW IS NOT VERY EXCITING. I WATCH IS EVERY WEEK WAITING TO SEE HOW MANY TIMES THEY CALL A PLACE HAUNTED BECAUSE OF THE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THEY HAVE. JUST BECAUSE THEY HAVE A PERSONAL EXPERINCE AND A FEW EVP DOESN'T MEAN THE PLACE IS HAUNTED. BRIAN, DONNA, AND ANDY SHOULD KNOW THAT FROM WORK WITH JAY AND GRANT FROM GHOSTHUNTERS. ROBB HAS TO HAVE SEVERE CAMERA FRIGHT, THE WAY HIS EYES GETS BIG EVERY TIME HE TALKS TO THE CAMERA. IT'S OK ROBB, YOU CAN CALM DOWN.

3 out of 5 stars Quick fix for a GH junkie, but pales in comparison.   March 1, 2008
If you're as addicted to the normal Ghost Hunters as I am, this show will tie you over until more new GH episodes are out (March 5th!). GHI doesn't hold a candle to GH though.

As others have noted before me, Rob is likeable but hilariously goofy in any situation where he has the spotlight. I'm not sure if he's just incredibly nervous, or he/the producers are trying to force some kind of persona on him, but I often cringe watching him. I've always liked Andy's enthusiasm and honesty, although I'd say the "in need of Ritalin" assessment is pretty accurate. Barry is great and very charismatic, but does seem to lean toward thinking demons are out to get him around every corner. I like Donna, but she was much better in her ancillary role on GH as case manager/part-time investigator. She doesn't seem to have the poise or the experience to be a full time investigator. Brian is, well...Brian. He means well, but my lack of confidence in the scientific validity of his investigation is matched only by my lack of tolerance for his personality. Last and certainly least, there seems to be some claim that Shannon has some investigative experience, but it surely doesn't show. She scares entirely too easy for someone who's supposed to be a professional paranormal investigator, and her personality is wanting.

As a humorous aside, check out Paranormal State s1e12, where one Shannon Sylvia calls in the PRS crew to investigate the oh-so-creepy sound of children in her loft. Once you get through enough GHI to dislike her as much as I do, check out this episode and see if you chuckle as much as I did.

Speaking of Paranormal State, or most other paranormal investigation shows in the vein of Ghost Hunters, the reason I was able to go as high as 3 stars for GHI was only that is still carries a lot of the credibility and merit of the original GH. Their investigative methodology, use of the equipment and review of their findings is solid and based on a more empirical style of investigation. Most other shows of this ilk are deliberately over-dramatic and focus on making more of subjective and unsupported personal experience, or cleansing/excorsising/casting out whatever supposed entity they come across.

Bottom line: GHI is better than most, but still no GH. I'll still be spending the two bucks a week on new episodes though.

3 out of 5 stars Hire Josh Gates   February 28, 2008
With the absence of the regular GH right now GHI is a nice alternative. I agree with most of the other reviewers, I am having a difficult time getting used to Rob. He is not a natural in front of the camera. He needs to relax. Josh Gates brought a lot to the most recent episode. It became apparent what kind of energy they are lacking when he was paired with them.

I really enjoy Barry, Donna and Brian.....it may take a while for me to get used to the rest of the cast.

2 out of 5 stars International ghost hunting or international travelers?   February 13, 2008
Reading the rest of the reviews to date, I can see how it is the present International format has stayed on the air. T.A.P.S. ("Ghost Hunters" or "GH") has a well-established format and flavor that Ghost Hunters Int'nl ("GHI") is trying to replicate, but falls short. To date, there is no GHI episode worthy of purchase, in my opinion. The show seems to be about a bunch of young adults traveling in Europe, most of whom fight with each other over what each knows about things not really related to the show.

Robb is still getting his feet under him. That's good, but does anyone know where he came from? (To that question -- does Robb have feet to get under him? I suspect Robb is from the "extended T.A.P.S. family" -- quoting Jason) I am certain Grant & Jason picked Robb for many reasons -- even if only to protect their GH franchise! It seems to me that Robb has been very grateful for his appointment as leader of this GHI group, but he has yet to explain to his audience -- maybe even his crew -- where he ground his paranormal investigator chops. Certainly, he has demonstrated skills that watching GH would give the average viewer. His demonstrated courage however, shows he is an experienced ghost hunter. But, how experienced IS he?

As to the rest of the group -- Barry is the strongest of the investigators, having clearly run his own paranormal investigation operation. He also shows viewers that he is VERY bright -- by simply staying out of the petty complaint session(s) that arise during each show! The complainers from GH -- Donna, Shannon, Andy and Brian -- have evidently been sent to GHI to learn how to accept each other and to settle down. So far, these cast members remain weak interpersonally. Donna does not like the way Shannon talks to spirits; Shannon thinks Donna is petty; Andy cannot get along with Steve from the GH franchise, and so here he is. Also, Andy demonstrates he believes he should be elevated to a management position, as he has become Robb's shadow during each GHI show. (BTW Andy, congratulations on your baby boy! He looks healthy and robust. I trust your wife has recovered from the ordeal of childbirth? Some advice from a Dad of 20+ years: be sure to take care of Momma and child. They are your greatest reason for being!) Lastly, there's Brian. Fired and rehired, and fired again from the GH franchise, he lives once more on GHI! Brian cannot tolerate Steve, and gets low marks from Grant and Jason -- as well as all fellow GH teammates -- for his story-telling. How long will it take Robb to become aware of Brian's past and present? THAT may end up being the best story-line of the GHI franchise! Keep watching for that reason, at least!

Hopefully, this show has more than a 'ghost' of a chance of surviving the personalities fighting with each other through the entire first season! As it is now, the show is based on a false premise that international ghost hunting is the subject. So long as a single minute of the program is wasted on petty personal conflict, this reality-based program of quarrelling international travelers -- each one mad about something another of the cast has said or done to him or her -- has no chance of survival OR entertainment.

If we all keep watching, maybe the show will make-it through its first season. All it will take to terminate GHI is a single complaint from a site host about petty bickering she or he witnessed during a supposed paranormal investigation of a haunted location of some local repute. Sponsors and producers won't pay for cast/crew fights -- especially in a foreign country! Let's hope the travelers/cast do some self-examination before the show ends prematurely!
