5 out of 5 stars Amazing little thing   June 21, 2007

I purchased this item for my wife as she needed something like this at her office. The recording quality is superb, and the included goodies (MP3, WMA player), direct USB, 1GB space makes it a very attractive all-round package. I am thinking of getting one just for myself.

4 out of 5 stars Small Nice recorder   June 8, 2007

Very easy to use. Sound quality is ok if placed close to speaker. if in pocket or at a small distance sounds very muffeled.

4 out of 5 stars Voice Recorder for live music   June 7, 2007
5 out of 5 found this review helpful

I bought this to use to record my rock & blues band at gigs and practice. It was easy, recorded well without any distortion, but when played back through a stereo, revealed little bass. After EQ, it sounds pretty good, but is a low output unit. I ended up with the DS-40, better for what I use it for.

As a music player, this was very cool with an Equalizer and plenty of memory. Great for a voice recorder or mp3 player, gets a B- for recording bands live.

4 out of 5 stars A Little Disappointment...   June 5, 2007

I bought this recorder for dictation purposes. Works great. Simple to handle, quite handy, easily goes in my pocket and my wife's purse. Files can be easily moved to any computer as back up. Only problem I see with this device is that the play back volume is low even on the highest setting. Perhaps good with ear phones, but certainly a disspointment when played on the built in speakers. Then again, what can I expect in a device of this size?
I forgot to put the device on hold, but it should automatically go to hold and save battery, hmm... disappointed to see that the brand new copper top battery is completely run down after a week.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful product, BUT--Amazon reviewers deserve the most praise!   June 3, 2007

I love my new Olympus WS-320M,1 GB Digital Voice Recorder and Music Player, and all the optional accessories I purchased with it. (I bought most all of those offered here and at Olympus' home page, spending some $218 total).

01. everything works as advertised.

02. the product is stylish and well constructed (though a bit expensive, especially the accessories).

03. the features are ALL useful, (unlike many of today's unnecessarily cluttered electronics gadgets); I did not find one (and there are many) that I haven't or won't use at some point.

04. the manual is laid out well and very easy to follow (and I believe nearly everyone will need to use it due to the plentiful options and enhancement features)

05. the quality of the sound recorded, both for the recorder and the music player is crisp, clear, and if you take the time to test and set ALL your features options, you may be truly amazed at how exceptional is your end result, especially in a unit so very small and which weighs almost nothing.

and...

you might be really blown away, particularly with the Music Player portion of the recorder, once you enable all the great sound enhancing features, like the WOW ("an audio processing technology that increases sound clarity and bass quality"; the SRS 3D surround effect (which increases the sound-expansion effect and sound clarity, the great "TruBass" feature which enhances the low sounds, the "Equalizer" (I know, really cool, huh?) - and many, many other feature enhancements.

Although there is no mention of it at their site or in the Manuals, The Music Player (.mp3 & WMA formats) work equally well with both Mac and PC. I really appreciated this as I'm a Mac user, and can use iTunes to record, swap and play all my iTunes music on the Olympus. (And frankly, once all my options on the Olympus Music Player were set up and tested properly, I'm not sure I could tell the difference this week end between the quality of an expensive Apple iPod-and the Olympus Music Player?

(As Glenn Beck often quips: I'm just saying...) :-)

Finally, for me, there are NO downsides to the Olympus WS-320M or accessories. It does everything as advertised (and in truth, much, much more that is NOT advertised - until you open the box and manual); but just here is where I want to express my greatest appreciation as it regards this purchase:

I read every thoughtful review of this product here at Amazon. I studied each one, weighed the pros & cons, and in the end, I did what I always do when purchasing from this site: I made an "informed" decision about spending several hundred dollars for an item I had never seen before, knew absolutely nothing about (prior to the reviews at Amazon), and as always, in the end, was delighted with the outcome.

I really believe it's the wonderful, thoughtful consumers here at Amazon who make my purchasing life such a pleasant, informed and confident experience, and who deserve the praise more than Olympus for producing a great product. How would I know it met my needs and was a great product, if not for the kindness of those who took the time to share their honest appraisals and experiences with me? I'm supposed to trust Olympus?

I'm just saying...

:-)

I appreciate each of you guys for taking the time to be of assistance to your fellow online frustrated and weary consumers, those of us seeking help and wisdom when it counts so much: parting with hard earned money, and feeling good about it, instead of apprehensive and stressed.

You may or may not realize what your selfless contributions mean to perfect strangers who shop here, but for me...here's a big - THANK-YOU-ONE-AND-ALL!

(If you didn't take the time to steer me in the right direction, I wouldn't even shop on line).

Have a great and blessed 2007 one and all, and keep those reviews coming ;-)
