I bought it 1 month ago
of course this can record very long time
but that is all
recording quality is too bad to record
and this recorder is only record the voice
it do not record as a mp3 file or anything else.
to listen the recordings I have replay the recorder.
How inconvenient this is.
So I have to buy anohter thing
But funny thing is only 30$ mp3 player can record the voice
much better than this poor recorder

For anyone who previously enjoyed the simple Voice-It recorder which has been unavailable for years, this is the next best thing for recording notes to oneself. Sound quality is good and controls are simple. Like the locking slide switch which precludes accidental recordings and increases battery life. Oddly the instructions did not include how to adjust volume (push the + and - during playback). Would recommend especially for the $30 price.

This company(Olympus) cheats customers by luring them to believe that VN4100 is the same as VN4100PC.The difference lies in the computer connectivity.This Voice recorder which bears the VN4100 does not have USB Port and thus CANNOT do a file transfer to the computer.So the question of email sending of voice files is impossible.
Also, the battery functionality is not good.The moment the hold button is on and the battery is replaced the machine crashes and becomes useless.
The design is sleek but it has not substance.
Exactly what I wanted August 30, 2008
I purchased this for my husband. He was never in a position to write something down when it came to mind. This is a basic recorder but does exactly what I thought it would. You just grab it and put your thoughts on it. Very clear when you play it back. Records well in fairly noisy conditions. Very light weight and no bigger than a cell phone. It fits very well in his pocket. If you need something to put reminders, lists, or anything on, this is great. And the price can't be beat either!
Perfect little helper for my middle grade child August 25, 2008
A teacher recommended I purchase a recorder for my son to assist in his writings by helping get his thoughts in order, as he is good verbally, but his writing comes across as jumbled up. He is all too excited about his ability to bloviate with the recorder which has helped his writing tremendously, especially since it is so easy to use.
